 நட்போ, காதலோ, குடும்பமோ எல்லா உறவுகளும் இப்போதெல்லாம் தொட்டாச்சிணுங்கியாக , சற்றே அழுத்தினால் உடைந்துவிடும் முட்டைகளாக மாறிவருகின்றன.

ஏதோ ஒரு விஷயத்தில் மாற்றுக் கருத்து வந்துவிட்டாலோ, அல்லது தவறைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டிவிட்டாலோ..

ஒன்று விலகல்.. 

அல்லது நீடித்த மெளனம்.. 

அல்லது நிரந்தர பிரிவு!

அதுநாள் வரை நிகழ்ந்த பல அன்பான, இனிமையான தருணங்களை நினைத்துப் பார்க்கவெல்லாம் நேரமில்லை.

செடிக்குத் தண்ணீர் ஊற்றி மரமாக்கிய தோட்டக்காரனாய் இருந்தாலும் ஒரு இலை கிிள்ள அவனுக்கு உரிமை இல்லாதச் சூழல்! தண்ணீர் ஊற்றியது கணக்கில்லை. இலை கிள்ளியதுதான் கணக்கு.

குழந்தைகள் கடற்கரையில் மணிக்கணக்கில் கட்டும் மணல் வீட்டின் உறுதியும், ஆயுளும்தான் உறவுகளிலும் என்று மாறிப்போவது கவலைப்பட வேண்டிய விஷயம்.

அன்பான தருணங்களை பரஸ்பரம் பாராட்டலாம். அடிக்கடி நினைத்துப் பார்க்கலாம். 

சுட்டிக்காட்டப்படும் தவறுகளை  பிடிவாதமாக மறுக்காமல் ஒருவேளை தவறுதானா என்று தள்ளிநின்றுப் பார்த்து பரிசீலிக்கலாம். 

தவறென்று உணர்ந்தால் தயக்கம் விட்டு மன்னிப்பு கேட்கலாம். 

அப்படி மன்னிப்பு கேட்கப்பட்டால் வீம்பைத் தொடராமல் மன்னிக்கும் பண்பை வளர்த்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.

மாற்றுக் கருத்துக்களை ஏற்க அவசியமில்லை, ஆனால் அதற்கும் சம மரியாதை கொடுக்கலாம்.

 *குட்டி கதை - ஞானம்*

ஒரு ஆசிரியிடம் பல மாணவர்கள் படித்து வந்தனர்.‌ ஒவ்வொருவருமே நல்ல அறிவாளிகளாக இருந்தனர். அதில் ஒரு மாணவன் எல்லோரையும் விட மிருந்த புத்திசாலியாக விளங்கினான். ஓயாத ஆர்வத்தோடு ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் புதிய புதிய காரியங்களைக் கற்றுக் கொண்டான். இதனால் அங்கிருந்த அனைத்து மாணவர்களிலும் அவனே சிறந்தவனாகத் திகழ்ந்தான். ஆசிரியரும் அவனிடம் தனிப்பட்ட அன்பும், கவனமும் செலுத்தினார்.‌ 

சிறிது காலம் சென்றது. அவனிடம் பல மாறுதல்கள் தெரிய ஆரம்பித்தன. அவன் எல்லோரையும் ஏளனமாக நோக்க ஆரம்பித்தான். தன்னை விட மூத்த மாணவர்களைக் கூட மதிப்பதில்லை. பலருக்கு மத்தியில் மூத்த மாணவர்களிடம் கடினமாகக் கேள்வி கேட்டு, அவர்கள் விடை தெரியாமல் விழிப்பதைப் பார்த்து கைகொட்டிச் சிரித்து , அவர்கள் அவமானத்தில் அழும்வரை கேலி செய்யத் தொடங்கினான்.

ஆசிரியரின் காதுகளுக்கு இந்த விஷயம் எட்டிவிட்டது. இந்த அகம்பாவம் அவனை அழித்து விடும் என்பதை உணர்ந்தார். ஒரு நல்ல மாணவன் நாசமாவதை அவர் விரும்பவில்லை. அவனது பிழையை அவனுக்கு உணர்த்த விரும்பினார். நேரடியாக அறிவுரை சொன்னால் அவன் கண்ணை மறைக்கும். அகம்பாவத்தில் அவரையே கூட எதிர்த்துப் பேசக் கூடும். வேறொரு வழியை யோசித்தார். மறுநாள் அவனை அழைத்தார். 

மகனே! இன்று அதிகாலையில், பக்கத்து கிராமத்தில் உள்ள என் நண்பர் ஒருவர் இறந்து விட்டார். அவர் தர்க்க சாஸ்திரத்தை கரைத்துக் குடித்தவர். இரு நூறுக்கு மேற்பட்ட நூல்களை எழுதியவர். பத்து முறை அரசாங்கத்தால் சிறந்த அறிஞருக்கான விருதினைப் பெற்றவர். பல அயல் நாடுகளிலும் கூட இவரது மாணவர்கள் உண்டு. நீ போய் பக்கத்துத் தெருவிலுள்ள தச்சு ஆசாரியிடம் போய் விவரத்தைச் சொல்லி ஒரு தரமான சவப்பெட்டியை செய்து வைக்கச் சொல். இன்று மதியம் அவரது அடக்கத்திற்குத் தேவைப் படுகிறது. இதை உன்னால் மட்டுமே சிறப்பாகச் செய்ய முடியும் என்றார். கடைசியாக அவர் அவனை உயர்த்திச் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகள் அவனை மிகவும் உற்சாகப் படுத்தி விட்டன.

இதோ உடனே செய்து முடிக்கிறேன் ஐயா என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு ஆசாரி வீட்டுக்கு விரைந்தான். ஆசாரி அவனை வரவேற்று அவன் வந்த விஷயத்தைக் கேட்டார். அவனும் மதியத்திற்குள் ஒரு தரமான சவப்பெட்டி வேண்டுமென்ற விஷயத்தை சொன்னான். ஆசாரி இறந்து போனவரைக் குறித்த விபரங்களைக் கேட்டார். அவனும் ஆசிரியர் சொன்னபடியே அவர் தர்க்க சாஸ்திரத்தை கரைத்துக் குடித்தவர். இரு நூறுக்கு மேற்பட்ட நூல்களை எழுதியவர். பத்து முறை அரசாங்கத்தால் சிறந்த அறிஞருக்கான விருதினைப் பெற்றவர். பல அயல் நாடுகளிலும் கூட இவரது மாணவர்கள் உண்டு. அவன் சொல்லி முடிப்பதற்குள் ஆசாரி சூடாகி விட்டார். ஏன்டா! இன்னிக்கு நீ பொழுது போக்க நான் தான் கிடைச்சேனா? செத்த பிணத்தோட விவரம் சொல்லாம வேறென்னமோ உளர்றியே! நீ படிச்சவன்தானா?  என்றார். இந்தக் கேள்வி அவனை ஆத்திரமூட்டியது. அவரைப் பத்தி இவ்வளவு சொல்லியும் புரியலைன்னு சொன்னா நீங்கதான் ஒரு அடி முட்டாள் என்றான்.

ஆசாரி அடேய் அறிவு கெட்டவனே! என்ன தான் படிச்சிருந்தாலும், விருதெல்லாம் வாங்கி இருந்தாலும் எனக்கு அது உடல்தான். எனக்கு வேண்டியது அதோட உயரம், அகலம்தான். நீங்க படிக்கிற படிப்பெல்லாம் உடம்புல உசிரு இருக்கிற வரைக்கும் தான். உனக்குப் பெட்டி வேணும்னா மரியாதையா போய் அளவெடுத்துக் கிட்டு வா  என்றார். எங்கோ பளீரென்று அடி விழுந்தது அவனுக்கு. மனித ஞானம் இவ்வளவுதானா? இதுக்காகவா இத்தனை பேரை அவமானப் படுத்தினேன்?. அவமானம் பொங்கியது. கூனிக் குறுகியபடியே ஆசியரின் முன்னால் போய் நின்றான். ஆசிரியர் சிரித்துக் கொண்டே கேட்டார், என்னப்பா சவப்பெட்டி அடிச்சாச்சா. அவன் பதில் சொன்னான். அடிச்சாச்சு. என்னோட தலைக் கனத்துக்கு. செல்லமே! என்ன தான் படித்தாலும் இது அழியப் போகிற சரீரம் தான். இதை உணர்ந்து மனத்தாழ்மையாய் நடப்பதே உண்மையான ஞானம்.

I. Reported speech is often also called indirect speech in English.

II. Tense Changes in Reported Speech

When changing from direct to indirect speech, you need to change the grammar in certain ways.

Verb tense forms usually need to change. The tenses generally move backwards in this way:

IV. No Change in Verb Tenses in Reported Speech

There is no change in verb tenses in Indirect Speech when:

1. The introductory verb is in the Present, Present Perfect or Future.

2. If the reported sentence deals with a fact or general truth.

3. The reported sentence contains a time clause.

4. The verb of the sentence is in the unreal past (the second or the third conditional).

5. The subjunctive stays unchanged in the subordinate clause.

6. Had better, could, would, used to, should, might, ought to and mustn’t remain unchanged.

7. If the speaker reports something immediately or soon after it was said.

To report a question, we use verbs such as: inquire, wonder, want to know, ask…

VIII. Reported Commands and Requests in English

Reported Orders, Commands and Requests are formed using the to-infinitive and not to-infinitive.

The reporting verbs for the orders/ commands/ requests are: order, shout, demand, warn, beg, command, tell, insist, beseech, threaten, implore, ask, propose, forbid…

When we change from direct to indirect speech, the pronoun and tense changes that are also needed.
